Iconic Things To Do In Orlando Florida, Near Disney World

Are you planning a big family holiday trip to Orlando? I know Walt Disney World is your first destination, but there are also other attractions that you must not miss.

Whether you are planning for a family vacation, going with your partner, want to have some fun with friends, or just seeking some free activities, there are endless options to keep you busy all day.

Here is an idea of the top things to do in Orlando Florida. From family fun to kids’ attractions and adults’ favourite nightlife entertainment options, there is something for everyone. So, get ready to bookmark this page!

Fun Things to Do in Orlando Florida

Besides the Disney World theme parks, there are many other fun activities in Orlando. Here are my favourite gaming spots:

Go for Player 1 Arcade

Player 1 Video Game Bar is one of the most popular spots in Orlando, with a huge selection of classic arcade games. You can play using retro consoles while enjoying themed cocktails or crafted beers. Overall, the atmosphere is more nostalgic, unlike regular gaming spots.

Experience Unlimited Playtime at Arcade Monsters

This is one of the most popular attractions in Orlando. You just need to pay once and can play hundreds of retro, modern, console, and VR games all day. There are various fun activities for players of all ages, but underage players are not allowed after 9:30 pm. Make sure to try the sushies, crafted drinks, and beer whenever you are in this area.

Try Glow-in-the-Dark Putt-Putt Golf

There are numerous glow-in-the-dark indoor golf playing stations in Orlando that you should try. The moment you enter the dark space, it is like a miniature psychedelic golf course with popular 90s or early 2000s music playing. Your kids will love the neon-lit environment.

Things to Do in Orlando Florida for Couples

Orlando, Florida, has various romantic escapes for couples. Here are some things you must not miss when you are visiting Orlando with your partner:

Spring Hammock Preserve Trail

It is the best spot for a couple who enjoy spending time in a more calming and peaceful environment. While strolling in the shaded trails, you can enjoy the beautiful forest, wildlife, and historic trees, and get a more romantic, intimate time. So, escape from the city and experience life closer to nature.

Go for an Orlando Cat Cafe Date

Are you and your lover quite fond of cats? Plan a surprise romantic cafe date at Orlando Cat Cafe and surprise your partner. Unlike regular cafes, where you just sit and talk, here you can enjoy fun activities, which help you have natural conversations and create more heartwarming memories.

Things to Do in Orlando Florida for Adults

Orlando offers one of the greatest nightlife experiences for adults with crafted cocktails, live shows, whole night concerts, and unique fun options. If you are struggling to find things to do with your friends in Orlando, try these for unforgettable memories:

Ride the Wheel at ICON Park

After the world-famous “London Eye”, the Wheel at ICON Park, also known as “Orlando Eye”, is another massive Ferris wheel that is around 400ft tall. The total round of 20 minutes is worth every penny, offering a breathtaking and panoramic view of the city. You can plan for a surprise romantic date, a bachelorette party, and a surprise birthday with friends to make them feel special.

Enjoy Orlando Beer Spa

This self-serve beer spa in Orlando, Florida, provides a relaxing and unique experience where you hop into a beer-filled tub with different beneficial herbs infused in the beer. It is not only good for your skin but also helps in improving blood circulation. So, try enjoying a relaxing beer bath with silky, smooth & soft skin.

Try the Axe Throwing

Axe throwing is another popular activity among adults. Whether you are with a group, date, or having a solo outing, try this thrilling game with relaxing drinks and snacks. Some of my favourite places in Orlando with good coaching are Epic Axe Throwing, Axecelsior Axe Throwing, and The Axe Trap.

Family Things to Do in Orlando Florida

Travelling in Orlando with family is more fun in every way. You can enjoy entertaining dinner shows, world-class theme parks, interactive games, and more that cater to all ages, from toddlers to older adults. Check out these things to do in Orlando with your family:

Visit the Orlando Museum of Art

Visiting the Orlando Museum of Art is an excellent place to visit with your family. Even though the museum is smaller than usual, it delivers a cultural contrast to the theme parks. Parents and even teens are surely gonna love this place.

Watch Lukas Nursery Butterfly

If you ask ten kids in Orlando, at least four will tell you that the Butterfly Nursery is one of the top things to do in Orlando Florida, on their list. At the Lukas Nursery, you can have an up-close experience with caterpillars and chrysalises. The butterflies land on your hands and fingers to drink nectar. Overall, an amazing experience

Visit & Shop at Florida Cactus

The Florida Cactus Farm has a wide variety of cacti and succulents, and some of them are rare varieties. You can visit the place with your family, gather some knowledge, and even buy a selection of tropical succulents at discounted prices.

Things to Do in Orlando Florida with Kids

We all know that an Orlando vacation has become a common thing among the kiddos. But visiting the same theme parks may make them less exciting. So, here are some other fun things that you can do with your kids besides the Disney and theme parks:

Explore Apopka Wildlife Drive

Instead of visiting the crowded themed parks, you can take a fun, exciting ride to the Apopka Wildlife to see the abundant wildlife. Kids love to see dozens of alligators up close, but from the safety of cars. This 11-mile drive usually takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on how many stops you choose. The lake area opens from Friday to Sunday and from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Experience the SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium

I definitely recommend this aquarium to anyone with young children. SEA LIFE not only offers fun but also provides educational experiences. You get a 180-degree view with approximately 150,000 gallons of ocean water in an underwater tunnel. But note that this is a small aquarium. So, it is better for a few hours of daily activity rather than a full day plan.

Try Self-Guided Doughnut Tour

If your kids love doughnuts, then you must try the unique local doughnut shops. The Salty Donut, Dochi, Voodoo Doughnut, and DG Doughnuts allow a self-guided tour with custom flavors, over-the-top creams, and sprinkles. But you will need to hurry, as most of the time they sell out sooner than you may expect. [I highly recommend you try the Japanese mochi]

Free Things to Do in Orlando Florida

The Orlando theme parks and expensive rides often raise the concern that even a short vacation in Orlando might be costly. But not always. There are many more fun and exciting things to do in Orlando Florida, that do not require a penny. Let’s check them out:

Visit the Orlando Public Library

Bookworms are going to love this destination. This public library has one of the greatest architectural designs. From a vast collection of books, digital resources, and a 3D design class, there are proven reasons why this library has won so many awards.

Go to Lake Eola Park

Lake Eola Park also offers free entry for the public, featuring a peaceful environment for all visitors. You can enjoy feeding the swans, renting swan paddle boats, watching shows at the Walt Disney Amphitheater, and enjoying a skyline view from 6:00 am to midnight. It is a great spot for relaxation.

Go for Hiking at Tibet-Butler Preserve

This has six different trails for hiking. Each of them offers different features of Florida’s unique yet diverse ecosystems. If you need a quick break from the city noise, go for a peaceful walk on this flat trail to explore the wildlife.

Cheap Things to Do in Orlando Florida

There are more free things to do in Orlando, but here are some cheap things that you should also try:

Visit the Harry P Leu Gardens

Want to revisit your childhood dreams of being a witch at Hogwarts? The Harry P Leu Gardens is a wonderful, nostalgic place that is exactly like the movie. The admission fee for adults is only $15, and for kids from 4 to 17, it is only $10.

Try Bike Riding on the West Orange Trail

You can rent a bike for $8 to $15 per hour or $35 to $50 for a whole day on the West Orange Trail and go biking. Every penny is worth it to explore the vibrant downtown and enjoy nature closely. The road is paved on old rail lines, which makes the experience even more retro-like.

Explore Kelly Park for Rock Springs

Kelly Park’s Rock Springs is a perfect place for swimming in 68°F clear spring water, hiking on trails, and picnic spots with grilling facilities. If you are lucky, you may also spot wildlife like turtles or deer. But make sure to arrive very early in the morning, as the park closes once it reaches maximum visitor capacity.

Things to Do in Orlando Florida, at Night

You might have heard how awesome the nightlife of Orlando, Florida, is. Here’s what you must try once in your life:

Experience Kings Dining & Entertainment

Kings Entertainment allows adults to enjoy delicious food, creative cocktails, and unique beer extensions that you might not have heard of before. You can also take part in various retro-inspired social games with friends, family, and co-workers. Something exciting is ready at the Kings from late afternoon until late at night.

Visit Howl at the Moon Orlando

If you want to experience a high-energy, exciting nightlife adventure, you must visit Howl at the Moon Orlando. From classic rock music to signature party drinks and a non-stop party vibe, this spot really offers a premier level of nightlife.
