In the meantime, we enjoy gooey butter cake, toasted ravioli and Provel cheese pizzas in St. Louis. We have tasted foods like hot salami sandwiches, St. Louis-style pizza, Deep-dish Apple Pie, and Provel. 

Attraction of Autumn 

In Missouri, we have visited art exhibitions where the fall is the theme of paintings with scenes showing red, gold and orange. We explored Shaw Nature Reserve as it is a popular destination.  We experienced hiking and biking across the Katy Trail State Park. The hikers love to travel to Castlewood State Park and Rock Bridge Memorial State Park. 

As we took part in the weekend road trips to Hermann’s wine country, we came to know that it is an annual tradition with regional vineyards. We experienced the beauty of fall in the Missouri wines. We explored the vineyards like Stone Hill Winery, St. James Winery and Adam Puchta Winery and tasted the delicious wines. 

Reaching local states

Missouri is located centrally, and Chicago, Denver and  Nashville are the main cities offering countless opportunities to visitors for weekend trips.  We made a trip to Ha Ha Tonka State Park, the Ozarks, Table Rock Lake, and Elephant Rocks State Park and were amazed to see the beautiful nature. If you are living near home, you can definitely visit vibrant Branson, the Gateway Arch, or Mark Twain Lake.

Poor Public Transport

When we compared the other rural areas of the US with Missouri, we found that public transport has some limitations. We travelled on the bus and light rail systems in big cities, but there is no public transport in small towns and rural areas. 

By talking to the residents, we came to know that they have a car or other forms of transport for travelling. While travelling to Kansas City, we found less public transport even though it’s the biggest city in Missouri. 

Prepare for Extreme Weather Changes

We feel that the summers are quite hot and the winters are really harsh. So, we believe that it is a continental climate. Cold winters in Missouri with temperatures falling to the freezing point create a lot of problems for residents and travellers. Snowstorms and power cuts might prevent travellers from moving across the state. We have experienced high levels of humidity in summer with temperatures close to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.  

Different Types of Pests

In summer, ticks, mosquitoes, and different insects bite people across the state. We have found that the pests are spreading diseases such as Lyme disease and West Nile virus.  We came across life-threatening spiders like black widow and recluse spiders. 

We need to find a solution to pests by applying insect repellents and special clothing. We have to be careful while hiking and camping in the forests. 

Low Earnings in Some Areas
