Mexican Hat, Utah is a destination unlike any other, It is a small town named after the unique geological formation of a red rock landscape shaped like a ‘sombrero’ which is a ‘Mexican Hat’. It is situated in San Juan, a political and administrative division of a state in the Southeastern part of the State of Utah in the United States. It doesn’t serve a proper major airport, it typically involves traveling by road. Mexican Hut is a remote area so one must always use a map, navigation app, or GPS. If you’re planning to go by car then make sure you have enough fuel especially if you’re planning to explore the area, as I’ve already mentioned above that it is a remote area. If you don’t want to drive then you get the option of a bus to the nearby cities. 

Some tourist companies offer guided buses to the areas from cities like Moba, Utah, Arizona, and vice versa. It often includes transportation and a guided experience of the area. By air, the nearest airport is the Four Corners Regional Airport in Farmington, New Mexico, which will take approximately a 2-3 hour drive. 

You can fly to this airport and then rent a car or cab to drive to Mexican Hat. If your intentions are to explore the area you better carry proper accommodations and supplies in advance as it is a remote area, services like lodging and dining can be limited.

The surrounding area of Mexican Hut, Utah offers a variety of adventurous activities and a lot of fun things to do. Some of those are mentioned below:

Hiking: 

You can explore the Redrock by hiking which provides you with some stunning and amazing viewpoints, scenarios, and natural wonders. A few popular trails include the Sun Juan River along the mesmerizing rock formation, Monument Valley, Natural Bridges National Monument, Goosenecks State Park, Muley Point Overlook, and the Valley of the Gods.

Offroading:

The mountain terrain is ideal for an off-roading adventure. You can take a 4×4 vehicle, OHV, ATV, mountain bike, or mountain truck and explore around viewing the amazingness of nature. Make sure to take the necessary things and check the road condition before going.

Water rafting:

There are rivers where you can go water rafting that offer various guided trips suitable and preferable for various skill levels, Sun Juan River Rafting, Colorado River Rafting, Green River Rafting, and Dinosaur River Rafting. All these give us different experiences and views.

Rock Climbing:

If you have some experience in rock climbing or you’re a rock climber then you can explore the cliffs in the area. Just take the necessary things and take safety measures.

There are many campgrounds in the area. Where you can camp, do BBQ, fishing, and at night you can stargaze. Its remote location offers amazing stargazing opportunities on clear nights.

We could see that Mexican Hut, Utah is a wonder of nature and it provides some beautiful experiences and views but we also saw that the means of transportation is good but not that favorable. As it has no major airport, we could just take a bus from any tourist companies or via car. 

We also saw the activities we can do there are very interesting, starting from adventure to peace of mind, we get everything. We also had a brief about the population and geographical areas of Mexican Hat, Utah, We saw how the climate out there where on some days it reached the temperature of 90°.
